Good Afternoon my name is __________________. I am a compulsive overeater & your moderator this afternoon. Welcome to the Lunchtime phone meeting of Overeaters Anonymous. After a moment of silence, will all those who wish, please join me in the Serenity Prayer.
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference”
I will now mute the line. [Pressing #0 mutes everyone except the moderator.] In order to un-mute, please press *7 on your phone & after sharing please remember to press *6 to mute.
We encourage you to grab a pen & paper to take down phone numbers to allow for more sharing time in the meeting. Would someone like to do service of taking down phone numbers?
Ask for a volunteer to read OA’s Twelve Steps.
Ask for a volunteer to read the TwelveTraditions.
Ask for a volunteer to read today’s reading in OA’s "Voices of Recovery" &/or "For Today"
Moderator chooses Reading/ Topic for meeting.
Read on Friday:
* Friday is a speaker meeting: Is the speaker on the line?
Hit *7 to unmute yourself.
Our speaker will now speak for up to 25 minutes.
(after the speaker finishes) Thank you for sharing. Would you like to suggest a topic?
The meeting is now open for sharing. We urge all present to limit their comments to their own experience, strength & hope in living with the disease of compulsive overeating.
We refrain from crosstalk. “Cross talk during an OA meeting is giving advice to others who have already shared, speaking directly to another person rather than to the group, & questioning or interrupting the person speaking or sharing at the time”. We encourage those new to the meeting or who do not often share to do so. If you have shared in the last week, please wait a bit today to allow others a chance who haven't spoken up recently. You may give your name & phone number/email after you share. Please include your time zone and calling times. If you forget, you can give it after the meeting closes, which is also the right time to have information repeated.
Please press *7 to un-mute to share and remember to press *6 to mute after sharing. This enables us to have a quiet meeting.
[Note to moderator: If people aren’t muting after sharing, you can press #0 to mute everyone. This is also useful when there is lots of background noise.]
12:50 Closing
We have no dues or fees or even expenses for this meeting, so we do not collect a 7th tradition. However, your local intergroup, region, and the OA World Service Office do have expenses, and we urge you to support them by giving double at your next face-to-face meeting. You may also donate directly to the OA World Service office at www.oa.org.
We would like to ask available sponsors to identify themselves. Please give your name & contact information slowly.
If you are new to this meeting or OA, we’d like to welcome you. Please give us your first name & contact information.
Are there any announcements related to this telephone number only.
Our regular business meeting is held on the 15th day of the month or the next day if the 15th is a holiday.
